What to bring
You are more than welcome to bring any fishing equipment you like, but all of our boats carry top of the line equipment for both fly and spin fishers. We provide water, but advise those who want additional drinks and food to bring this with them. If you would like to arrange for boxed lunches through us, please let us know when you schedule your trip.
Additional items that would improve your experience include:
- *Sunglasses* (polarized lenses if possible)
- Camera
- Sun-Block
- Non-marking shoes - if possible. No worries if not.
- Jacket (we provide heavy foul weather gear, but your own may be more comfortable. Always bring extra layers for any trip on the water.)
- Snacks - be careful leaving any food near Captain Jason.
Directions
Essentially, you need to get on Madaket Road, which leads to the West End of the island. From anywhere but downtown, this usually means coming from the Rotary out by the Stop and Shop and Fire Station.
From Town: Follow Cliff Road for 2 miles until it meets Madaket Road at an offset 4-way intersection [Do Not turn hard left or right and you'll be fine]. Stay on Madaket Road for 3.5 miles. You will pass the landfill on your left followed by two ponds.
When you see a sign for Madaket Marine on your right (DO NOT TURN YET!) and a sign for Tristram's Landing on your left, continue for exactly ½ mile and turn right onto F Street. There will be a sign for Walter S Barrett Public Pier. We'll be waiting 100 yards down the road where it turns into the prettiest docks on the island.
*There is ample street parking.
From the Rotary: Head North on Sparks Ave which brings you past the High School. Go straight through an offset 4-way intersection onto Prospect St. You'll pass the old windmill on your right and go straight through another 4-way intersection. There will be a field on your left as you come to an intersection at a monument. Take a left onto Madaket Road.
Stay on Madaket Road for 5 miles. You will pass the landfill on your left followed by two ponds. When you see a sign for Madaket Marine on your right (DO NOT TURN YET!) and a sign for Tristram's Landing on your left, continue for exactly ½ mile and turn right onto F Street. No Shows will be put on our "Slack Lines List" and really bum us out. You also may or may not be given a hook during future charters.
The Weather Factor: Our goal is to provide a positive and unforgettable experience. Capt Tom's 35 years of charter experience has given him a great ability to consider group dynamics and weather conditions to judge whether a trip should go out. We will never put anybody in a situation where they feel uncomfortable or will not enjoy. That being said, we've had some of our best experiences while getting as wet as the fish! We will be glad to discuss conditions and possibilities with you prior to your charter.
